Design

Developing management skills involves more than just putting people through a management training course. In order to actually build skills in the workplace your managers need fully integrated Management Development Programs that incorporate courses, coaching, on-the-job  mentoring and skill development assignments.  By drawing on our network of experienced training consultants, Savvy can help you with any part (or all) of this training design process:

Needs Analysis

Start with a full training needs analysis to identify the development needs of staff at each level.  It's very important to get out there and ask other people what they think rather than just relying on your own gut feeling at this point.  Interview the Executive Management Team, the HR director, the head of Training and a sample of business-line managers and staff from each level.  The result will identify the business issues and goals and the existing strengths and development opportunities of each level of your staff.

The Training Needs Analysis clarifies the problem, identifies the target trainees and defines the training objectives so that the results of the training can be measured.

Try the DIY Needs Analysis on this site to get started on your new course.

Curriculum Design

When designing the management development program or curriculum, see what programs you already have in place that are satisfactorily meeting some of the needs identified.  Then, to meet the remaining needs, we can either source a suitable supplier or Savvy can write a brand new course or recommend an executive coach to run an individual development program.

The result is an integrated curriculum of financial and staff management training courses, development activities and follow-up coaching that steadily builds technical, product, financial, sales and soft skills through learning, practice and feedback timed for significant milestones throughout a manager’s career.

Course Design

Choose from our existing modules and have them tailored to suit your business or have Savvy design a course for you. So whether it's a comprehensive financial training course or developing your people management skills, we customise it to your requirements.

You decide:

  • External or internal venue
  • Delivered by either your own trainers or by Savvy trainers - we'll design a course either for delivery by our trainers, in which case we prepare a Macro Outline and the participant materials, or we can go further and prepare a detailed Facilitators' Guide that will enable your own staff to deliver the course.
  • The length of the course

Participation

Savvy courses are designed to maximise trainee participation so that the participants can practice the new management skills they are learning in a safe, non-threatening training environment. You can watch someone ride a bike, you can read how to ride a bike, but you won't be able to ride a bike until you actually try riding the bike yourself!

 Delivery

We're based in Sydney but we travel.  Our trainers have extensive practical management experience in a variety of industries and are accredited to deliver courses by many of the world’s leading suppliers.

Review

As well as providing you with a Participant Course Evaluation Summary, Savvy will contact participants after the course to reinforce the course content and to suggest further developmental activities.  Some training managers also like us to provide a summary of course results and suggested developmental activities to the participants’ managers.
